Bernard D. Holst
President
With over four decades of expertise in the wind energy sector, Bernard D. "Bernie" Holst has been a driving force behind the design, development, and construction of more than 6 GW of wind projects across the United States and Canada. As President of Aegean Energy Group, Bernie’s leadership continues to shape the renewable energy landscape with sustainable, innovative solutions.
Bernie’s career began in 1981 at the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute (HNEI), where he developed his technical foundation as a specialist. He then advanced to Battelle Northwest Labs in Richland, Washington, further refining his expertise. At SeaWest WindPower (1992–2002), Bernie played a pivotal role in wind project design and technology assessment, cementing his reputation as an industry leader.
From 2002 to 2006, Bernie served as President of Garrad Hassan America, where he spearheaded critical initiatives such as commercial and technical due diligence for banks, wind resource assessments, and the development of System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) technology. He also managed operations and maintenance for large-scale wind projects, setting a benchmark for excellence in the sector.
Bernie’s executive journey continued as Senior Vice President of Operations at Padoma Wind Power, an NRG Energy subsidiary, followed by his tenure as Director of Engineering and Construction at Enel Green Power North America. At Enel, he oversaw the design and construction of over 1 GW of wind projects. Later, as Executive Vice President of Operations at Cielo Wind Services, Bernie managed construction for seven wind projects totaling over 1.3 GW.
His career has been defined by a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. Establishing Aegean Energy Group marked the culmination of his extensive experience, uniting his technical expertise and strategic leadership to drive meaningful progress in the green energy sector.
